Corporate and External Affairs Assistant

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Senior Director of Corporate and External Affairs, the Corporate and External Affairs Assistant (CEAA) the duties of the CEAA include:

Assistance with:

  • Assistance with the planning and execution of the organization's special events including the annual Gala.
  • Management of event logistics, research of prospective donors and coordination of donor outreach activities;
  • Management of year-end fundraising appeal;
  • Assistance with development of a strategic plan to engage AAI alumni. Outreach to alumni in the U.S. , Africa and worldwide.
  • Response to inquiries about the organization;
  • Other duties as assigned.

With oversight by the Senior Director, the CEAA has primary responsibility for maintenance of the AAI website, dissemination of e-communications and maintenance and updating of the Alumni Database.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience;
  • Experience with website maintenance/html software a must (knowledge of Dreamweaver a plus);
  • Experience maintaining databases;
  • Excellent computer skills, especially, proficiency Microsoft Suite;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to demonstrate a high degree of initiative and work independently;
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously; and
  • Interest in African affairs;
  • Preference given to individual with experience in external affairs, communications and/or corporate relations.

 

SALARY: Mid 30's depending upon experience. Full benefits.
