AAI to Launch Social Media Campaign to Celebrate 60th Anniversary

60factsThe Africa-America Institute (AAI) is launching a new social media campaign “60 Facts in 60 Days” to highlight the organization’s rich history, impact on Africa’s socio-economic and political development, and prominent alumni for 60 years.

Using the hashtag #AAI60, the social media campaign will go live on Sunday, July 28 and concludes after 60 days on the evening of AAI’s 60th Anniversary Awards Gala on Wednesday, September 25 at the New York Hilton.

The social media campaign updates will be visible to AAI’s followers on Facebook and Twitter. Social media followers are invited to participate in the campaign by learning about basic historical facts about AAI and how its history relates to African history, answering trivia questions, and interacting with AAI’s online community.

It aims to generate interest and engagement through social media in AAI’s long legacy of strengthening Africa’s human capacity for development through education, training and dialogue, and educating Americans about Africa.

AAI’s 60th anniversary celebration activities will include its first Annual Career Expo: Inaugural Talent Summit on Saturday, September 21 at Hunter College in New York City. As part of the campaign, live tweeting will take place at the Talent Summit, which will feature panel discussions and speakers on talent management and recruitment of African professionals in the Diaspora from both an individual and institutional perspective.
