Former basketball star Dikembe Mutombo will attend AAI’s 60th Anniversary Awards Gala on Wednesday, September 25 at the New York Hilton in New York City.

Mutombo will be the guest of honoree Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings Limited and Founder of Tony O.Elumelu Foundation

The Democratic Republic of Congo-born athlete and philanthropist is the Chairman and President of the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health, education and quality of life of people in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Since he entered the NBA in 1991, Mutombo has been engaged in humanitarian work and giving back to communities around the globe. He previously served as a spokesman for international relief agency CARE, and works closely with NBA Cares outreach efforts. NBA Commissioner David Stern appointed Mutombo as Global Ambassador in 2009 to help grow the game of basketball internationally.
