Four African Heads of State to Join Historic Gala Conversation

Five African Heads of State will participate in an exclusive “Conversation on Africa’s Past, Present and Future” during AAI’s 60th Anniversary Awards Gala on September 25 at the Hilton New York in New York City, during the opening week of the UN General Assembly.

The Awards Gala anniversary theme is “Unlocking Africa’s Greatest Asset for 60 Years”. The black-tie affair has become one of the largest and most anticipated events celebrating African achievement in New York City.

Presidents Confirmed

H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and President of Ghana and H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania

H.E. Goodluck Jonathan, President of Nigeria; H.E. Jakaya Kikwete, President of the United Republic of Tanzania; H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and President of Ghana; H.E. Hailemariam Dessalegn, Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Chair of the African Union; and H.E. Hifikepunye Pohamba, President of Namibia are confirmed for the unscripted discussion.

During the “Conversation”, African leaders will engage in a high-level discussion highlighting Africa’s successes and challenges since independence and will present their vision for accelerating the continent’s development and socio-economic progress in the future.

Ben Dotsei Malor, Chief Executive Producer for United Nations Radio, will moderate the conversation.
