“We don’t know how we are going to access all these funds. These funds from different sources have different terms and conditions and we think some of the instruments are not suitable for Africa,” said Paul Mwafongo, Minister Plenipotentiary of Economic Affairs at the Embassy of Tanzania in Washington.
Mr. Kamran Khan, a White House appointee and a vice president at the Millennium Challenge Corporation, a U.S. development agency, responded to the Tanzanian envoy’s concerns by saying that the project is in its infancy and that continued consultations would be needed to clarify it. “ It’s just a different kind of initiative and it will require a lot better communication on the part of the U.S. government agencies to make sure that our counterparts understand this,” he said.”
