AAI and Enterprise Development Centre co-host forum on leadership development in Africa

The Africa-America Institute and Transformational Leadership Program-partner institution Enterprise Development Center (EDC) at Pan-African University held a daylong symposium on leadership development on May 27 in Lagos, Nigeria.

AAI President Amini Kajunju, TLP program manager Melissa Howell, and AAI Development Director Brian McGinley traveled to Lagos to attend and participate in the symposium, entitled “Increasing Service Delivery and Building Leadership Capacity”.

Symposium workshops included topics such as : Capacity-Building through Leadership Development; Why is Leadership & Management important to NGOs?; Challenges and possibilities of evaluating impact in Leadership Development Programs: The Infrastructure needed for Training NGO leaders; and Building Leadership Capacity on the Continent.

The Transformational Leadership Program, known as TLP, is a multi-year program that provides non-degree professional certificate and business degree training for African managers of Africa-based NGOs working in the fields of health, education, environment and entrepreneurship, and African small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

The Coca-Cola Africa Foundation has served as the inaugural and primary funding partner for the program since 2006.
