Win an Autographed Book on the Life of Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf from Author Riva Levinson

riva-levinson-bookAAI is offering a giveaway of author Riva Levinson’s first print run of her book Choosing the Hero: My Improbable Journey and the Rise of Africa’s First Woman President” on the night of the AAI 2016 Annual Awards Gala.

Levinson, a long-time adviser to President Sirleaf and author, has generously offered to give away 10 authographed copies of her book to 10 lucky readers.

The book is Levinson’s compelling account of her life and career, and how she joined forces with Sirleaf to fight for a cause bigger than either of them.

Levinson chronicles her behind-the-scenes lobbying for the exiled Sirleaf in Washington, D.C. as well as her on-the-ground work in Liberia. It took three tries for Sirleaf to finally win the presidency in 2005. Since inauguration, President Sirleaf, who won the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize, has transformed her war-ravaged country into one of the world’s post-conflict success stories.

“[In] Liberian native and aspiring politician Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, Levinson finds renewal of her own idealism and a greater sense of moral purpose…The book documents the unbreakable friendship that forms between the two women in the face of adversity…There are still heroes among us.”
