Participants of AAI’s Transformational Leadership Program in South Africa engage in a professional development training exercise on team-building.

While access to education in Africa has improved, there are about 77 million children of school age, including 44 million girls, who are still not in school. Additionally, out of every 100 adults in Africa, only five are enrolled in higher education programs.

Co-sponsored by The Ford Foundation, AAI’s inaugural Annual State of Education in Africa conference will be held on September 9 in New York City.

The State of Education in Africa conference will track the progress of primary, secondary, tertiary, technical and vocational education in Africa. The education conference will also explore thematic, country and sector approaches to strengthening the capacity of Africans and educational institutions.
