Kofi Appenteng Joins IE for the 10th Reinventing Higher Education Conference at Brown University

On April 4th-5th, Kofi Appenteng, President and CEO of the Africa-America Insititute (AAI) joined IE University for their tenth annual “Reinventing Higher Education” conference at Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island. The theme for the 2019 conference was “Building the Human Capital of Tomorrow: A Global Responsibility”. Thought leaders from around the globe descended upon Brown University’s campus to confront emerging issues surrounding education; this was the first time the conference was held in the United States.  

Mr. Appenteng joined thought leaders as they grappled with issues such as the future of a workforce being buffeted by immense technological change. The two-day conference engaged key stakeholders to promote rich discussion on the future of higher education and ways academia, government and the private sector can work together to build the human capital of tomorrow.

Mr. Appenteng participated in the Opening Plenary titled “Technology and Education in the Global Economy”. The Plenary discussed the role of technology in providing the means for talent markets to become truly global and the implications of this for educational institutions. 

For the Opening Plenary Mr. Appenteng was joined by: Michael Arthur, President & Provost, University College London (UK); Jean Chambaz, President, Sorbonne University (France); Elsa del Castillo, Rector, Universidad del Pacífico (Peru); Ahmad Hasnah, President, Hamad Bin Khalifa University (Qatar); Du Peng, Vice President, Renmin University of China (China).
